The Gatling Gun is a weapon found in Civil War: Secret Missions.

Details[]

Invented by Dr. Richard Gatling in 1861, the weapon was the world's first fully functioning machine gun, and saw its first use during the American Civil War. More common in the hands of the Union military, the Gatling Gun was operated by a large crank handle on the side and fed by a box magazine loaded into the top. It was capable of wreaking tremendous havoc on the battlefield, and was feared by virtually all soldiers who encountered it.

Interactions[]

The Gatling Gun features prominently during the mission Dr. Gatling's Secret Weapon, where the player (as a Confederate raider) must help his squad to steal one from a Union platoon and then fend off a counter attack with it. The gun is also seen surprisingly often during many of the later missions, usually in the hands of enemies and dug in behind a well fortified position. It is an extremely useful weapon for holding a defensive role, and most enemies will die after one to two shots from it.

Like all stationary weapons, the Gatling Gun has an infinite supply of ammunition.
